During the Covid lockdown in 2020, I found myself in full lockdown in Italy. I had no materials with me to create so the only way to be able to express myself and my frustrations, was to use my phone camera. I took these images of my hands to show the sense of emotion and feeling of each day.

While experimentation is fundamental to my contemporary art, female portrait retains for me a persistent attraction. These photo portraits, which belong to a series of paintings and photos taken during my trips around the world, search for an emotional connection. Because I so easily identify with the sitters, I am drawn to the need to express mine as well as the sitters’ feelings and emotions through the richness of their expression. My voice mediates my internal needs and external demands along a line between idealization and realism.
